Del Monaco Directs Piece From His Father's Repertoire

Director Giancarlo Del Monaco staged Zandonai's Francesca da Rimini currently running at the Opéra National de Paris. This is an opera that his father, the late tenor Mario Del Monaco, performed in the 1960s and recorded with Magda Olivero for Decca Records. The singers in the Paris production include Georgian baritone George Gagnidze (Giovanni), American tenor William Joyner (Malatestino), Bulgarian soprano Svetla Vassileva (Francesca) and French tenor Roberto Alagna as Paolo.[Source]
