Hopefully the barbers taking part in this promotion will incorporate their skills when matched with speed, otherwise there may be a nick (or two).
"Things may get hairy at McCaw Hall on Saturday, when Seattle Opera hosts "The Barber of Seattle" competitions — a riff on its upcoming production of Rossini's The Barber of Seville. In one of the afternoon's contests baritone David Adam Moore, who will sing the role of Figaro in the Sunday & Friday performances of Barber, will sing while real
local barbers race to give volunteers the closest shaves. Also, local stylists will see who can give a model the best new hairstyle, while bearded/mustachioed men will attempt to capture the title of "Seattle's Best Beard."The event is 1-4 p.m. at McCaw Hall, 321 Mercer St., Seattle; admission is free. The Barber of Seville, also featuring tenor Lawrence Brownlee, soprano Sarah Coburn and mezzo-soprano Kate Lindsey, opens at McCaw Hall on January 15."
