Baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky and soprano Sondra Radvanovsky have become the dynamic duo of opera, particularly in Verdian repertoire. This season at the Metropolitan Opera she is currently singing the title role in Tosca and he opens in the title role of Simon Boccanegra on January 20. The two will join forces in April
to revive the David McVicar production of Il Trovatore (HD Broadcast will be in theaters April 20). Delos Records will release a new CD featuring the two singers on February 22 titled Verdi Opera Scenes. The disc includes duets from Il Trovatore, Un Ballo in Maschera and Simon Boccanegra, as well as additional encore arias from Don Carlo (O Carlo, ascolta), Rusalka (Song to the Moon), Tosca (Vissi d'Arte) and Don Giovanni (Deh vieni). The singers will appear at the MET gift shop on Janauary 27 at 2PM to sign copies of the new recording.
